The Philadelphia Flyers saw their lead melt away but still found a way to defeat the Calgary Flames 4-3 on Monday at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Head coach John Tortorella’s squad entered the third period of the game with a two-goal lead, but the crowd favorites had not said their last word. Indeed, Tyler Toffoli and Andrew Mangiapane pleased the spectators by hitting the target in the first ten minutes of the last engagement.
Wade Allison, however, put an end to the Flames fan party. With less than eight minutes left in regulation time, the 25-year-old forward was left completely alone in goal for Jacob Markstrom. James van Riemsdyk spotted him and he just had to push the disc behind the red line.
Travis Konecny, Nicolas Deslauriers and Tony DeAngelo were the other scorers for the Flyers, while Mikael Backlund also scored for the Flames.
James Reimer closes the door
At SAP Center, San Jose Sharks goaltender James Reimer stopped all Seattle Kraken shots and his squad won 4-0.
The 34-year-old masked man made 26 saves and recorded his second shutout of this campaign. It was also the 27th time in his career that he had a National League shutout.
His performance allowed the California club to end a three-game losing streak.
Logan Couture, Evgeny Svechnikov, Noah Gregor and Michael Eyssimont (empty net) have signed up for the brand.
In front of the losers’ cage, Martin Jones stopped 20 of his rivals’ 23 shots. The Kraken saw their short winning streak come to an end after two games.
