The flu invaded the Alouettes’ camp on Wednesday, forcing the Montreal football club to cancel scheduled training at the Cégep de Trois-Rivières.
However, we are not talking about COVID-19, assured a spokesperson for the team. All members affected by the virus have been tested for coronavirus. All came back negative.
“We have a good dozen players and a few coaches who are affected, explained head coach Khari Jones. I first canceled the morning meetings, but when I saw the condition of some of them, I decided to cancel the training, in order to allow those affected to go to rest. and avoid contaminating more people.
For now, the Alouettes plan to resume training on Thursday, still at the Diablos stadium.
Friday’s preseason game against the Ottawa Redblacks at Percival-Molson Stadium is not in jeopardy.
“It is above all to ensure that this last preparatory match will take place that we have decided to cancel the activities of (Wednesday).
“There are races still at almost every position. We want to make sure that everyone has the chance to stand out and on our side, we want to make sure that we can make the best decision for our start-of-season squad.
This meeting should mark the end of training camp for the Alouettes, who will kick off their season next Thursday in Calgary.
