The flu epidemic has continued to affect many French regions since January, particularly in the South-East, where it continues to progress. During the fourth week of January, “Influenza and flu-like syndrome indicators were on the rise in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Corsica, justifying a transition to the pre-epidemic phase for Corsica”precise Public Health France, Wednesday February 2.

“In the other regions, influenza activity was stable”, notes the health agency. Some come out gradually, like France’s Island : “The indicators continued to decline in Ile-de-France after its transition to the post-epidemic phase.”

The previous winter, confinements and anti-Covid measures had blocked the circulation of other viruses, such as the flu. The French have been less infected than usual and are therefore less immunized collectively, which favors a resumption of the epidemic this winter.

This was also the case for bronchiolitis, which mainly affects infants and which had led to numerous hospitalizations in recent months. Public Health France observes a “continued decline in emergency room visits and hospitalizations following emergency room visits for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years old”.
