With the rise in real estate prices, more and more townspeople decide to flee the city, to settle in the countryside. This is more the case since the Covid-19 crisis, which poses problems of cohabitation with the historic inhabitants.

With deconfinement, more and more inhabitants have decided to flee the big cities to settle in the countryside. Virginie and Christophe decided to leave Paris last May, to settle in Vendôme (Loir-et-Cher). The couple have sold their 90 square meter apartment for a house that doubles it in this village. “The desire to leave had already been there for quite a long time. Deconfinement has accelerated things”, explains Christophe.

With the arrival of inhabitants of large cities, locals can no longer find a place to put their suitcases, with the price of real estate which has increased by 15%. “I want to sell, but to buy, I will buy more expensive so obviously, we do not find it”, explains a resident of the village. A phenomenon which is becoming more and more widespread, in a context where the prices of real estate in the city continue to climb.
