Thursday, July 14, a Portuguese journalist, engaged on a highway, found himself trapped. Filming his progress, he described in real time the situation during his journey between Porto and Aveiro, in Portugal. “It’s hot, very very hot”, can we hear the man say, completely surrounded by flames, in his video. For him, it is impossible to operate a U-turn. His voice grows increasingly worried. Indeed, he fears the worst behind every smokescreen.
“I don’t see anything. I hope no one stopped in the middle of the road”he comments. “I didn’t expect to find myself in this situation at all when I started filming”, then laments the journalist. Fortunately, he ended up getting out of this cauldron without damage. South of Lisbon (Portugal), the situation is the same. The inhabitants, distraught, saw a wall of fire rising up in front of them. More generally, all of southern Europe is in flames, from Spain to Croatia.
