There “first nuclear reaction” of the Flamanville EPR took place on Tuesday, September 3 at 3:54 p.m., marking “the beginning of the rise in power”EDF announced in a press release. “The first divergence was acquired on September 3 at 3:54 p.m. This is an important step in the start-up operations. This first nuclear reaction marks the beginning of the ramp-up, in successive stages, of the Flamanville EPR.”writes EDF.

“The reactor is currently operating at 0.2% of its nominal power. The teams are fully committed to continuing the test program which will allow the reactor to reach a power level of 25%.”the statement continued. “It is at this level that the Flamanville EPR will be connected to the national electricity grid for the first time and will then produce electricity. This first connection is planned for the end of autumn 2024.”
