The composition of Prime Minister Gabriel’s new government Attal was partly revealed on the evening of Thursday January 11. 14 ministers have been announced for key positions, with a team that leans clearly to the right. Among the new entrants, there is a surprise. Stéphane Séjourné, leader of Renaissance in the European Parliament, is now Minister of Foreign Affairs and succeeds Catherine Colonna.

The team also includes promotions

Former UMP minister Catherine Vautrin takes the place of Olivier Dussopt and becomes Minister of Labor and Health. In this government, several heavyweights are maintained: Bruno Le Maire in Economy, Gérald Darmanin Inside, Sébastien Lecornu to the Armies and Eric Dupond-Moretti to Justice.

The team also includes promotions, like Prisca Thevenot, government spokesperson replacing Olivier Véran. Amelie Oudéa-Castéra remains Minister of Sports, and is entrusted with the crucial Ministry of National Education, previously occupied by Gabriel Attal. Other nominations will be announced later. The first Council of Ministers will take place Friday morning.
