After a plane crash, four children miraculously survived for 40 days in the Colombian jungle. The 13-year-old eldest has ensured the survival of her siblings, aged one to nine, on her own.
They are the unexpected survivors after an exceptional rescue. On a video filmed by a rescuer, we see Soleiny, nine yearsand yours, five years, exhausted. Their little sister Cristin one year is held tight in the arms of a rescuer who cradles her. After 40 days in the Amazon jungle, exhausted children need to be rehydrated. It was their big sister Lesly, 13, who ensured their survival alone.
Children’s days are no longer in danger
For weeks, the army and native guards relentlessly tracked down the traces left by the children in the jungle after their plane crashed. Once found, the eldest told rescuers that she was very hungry. The little boy, Tien, five years old, stood up and explained: “My mom is dead.” Once reassured, the children were airlifted to the hospital in Bogota (Colombia), where they delivered the details of their ordeal to their father. Children’s days are no longer in danger. Their incredible story will have held an entire country in suspense.
