Netflix on Friday unveiled the first images of the fifth season of The Crownwhich coincides with the arrival of new actors in certain key roles.

While Imelda Staunton will be the last of the three actresses who have played the role of Elizabeth II through the decades, Princess Diana (played by Emma Corrin in the fourth season) will be played by Elizabeth Debicki for the last two seasons of the series. This one appears in the photo released by Netflix wearing a dress similar to the one the princess wore in 1995, during a gala benefit of Vanity Fair.
“During the 1990s, everything started to be filmed […] so we have access to a lot of content. And Diana was the most photographed person in the world,” Elizabeth Debicki told Netflix news site Tudum, which first unveiled the footage.
Prince Charles, who became King Charles III on the death of his mother on September 8, will be played by Dominic West, replacing Josh O’Connor. Olivia Williams will take the place of Emerald Fennell to interpret the role of Camilla Parker Bowles.
The fifth season of this drama series about Queen Elizabeth II and the British royal family will be broadcast from November 9, on Netflix. It will cover the late 1980s and part of the 1990s – leading up to the divorce between Charles and Diana.
Production on the sixth season, which would chronicle the death of the Princess of Wales in a car accident in Paris in August 1997, is underway, having been suspended for two days in recent weeks when the death of the queen and at her funeral.
