Gaza: the first humanitarian aid boat has been unloaded
Gaza: the first humanitarian aid boat has been unloaded
(FRANCEINFO)
A first shipment of 200 tonnes of humanitarian aid was unloaded in Gaza on the morning of Friday March 15.
Suspended above the sea, the aid ship’s cargo is slowly unloaded onto Gaza soil. It was placed on the beach before its distribution to civilians in the enclave. The Spanish boat was carrying 200 tons of water and food. Food awaited with hope in Gaza, where the population is threatened by famine. This is the first delivery of food by sea because the ship inaugurated a maritime corridor, set up by the European Union, between Cyprus and Gaza.
A second boat is expected
The nearly 400 km corridor is monitored by the Israeli army. In the absence of a deep water port, a pier is being built by Israel to allow the unloading of this humanitarian aid. An insufficient measure according to humanitarian associations. A second boat, loaded with water and food, is expected in Gaza in the coming days.
