The first free practice session disrupted by a failure of the surveillance cameras at the Canadian Grand Prix

The first free practice session in anticipation of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix was disrupted on Friday by a failure of the surveillance cameras when the single-seaters had barely completed their first laps.

The delay lasted several minutes and the stewards of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) decided to end the said one-hour session.

To make up for this loss of track time for the drivers, it was decided that the second free practice session will be extended from 60 to 90 minutes at the end of the afternoon.

Earlier in the morning, an electrical fault affected the paddock area, but everything was quickly resolved.
