This is a historic first, and the start of a new adventure. After various failed attempts, women’s cycling begins its first women’s Tour de France on Sunday July 24 at 1:30 p.m. (live on France 2 and france.tv).
It is a prestigious track that awaits the 144 runners, divided into the 24 participating teams. A departure from the Eiffel Tower, a route that takes you along the Seine to the Tuileries Gardens, then the Place de la Concorde to take the climb up the Champs-Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe.
The peloton will therefore present itself on the flat, but with eleven crossings over the finish line, two intermediate sprints (at km 34.8 and at km 55.2), and a total of 81.6 km on the programme. First stage victory, first yellow jersey, first green jersey and even first polka dot jersey (points will be awarded during the ninth visit to Charles de Gaulle-Etoile): the moment will be unforgettable.
