The Paimpont forest fire (Ille-et-Vilaine, site identified in the Brocéliande forest) is contained. The firefighters are still mobilized.
Water the hot spots relentlessly in the forest of Paimpont (Ille-et-Vilaine). The objective is to avoid reigniting the fire. “Currently, there, it is under control, but afterwards we have departures at times due to the vegetation, there are hot spots which are created”says Mathieu Klein, firefighter from SDIS 14. And vigilance is constant. “We had two significant outbreaks of fire since we’ve been here. We were able to control them quickly. You have to be attentive and drown the areas that haven’t yet burned”says Raphaël Vaudorme, SDIS 14 chief warrant officer.
Since Saturday, August 13 in the morning, the blaze has stopped progressing. It has so far destroyed 400 hectares of this legendary Breton forest. More than 150 kilometers away, in the Monts d’Arrée, the situation is similar: fumaroles still continue to emerge from the ground. There too, it is a real painstaking job for the firefighters. In all, 2,000 hectares burned in the Monts d’Arrée.
