More than 200 wildfires were still out of control in Canada as of Monday morning, as the country’s record fire season continues to consume thousands of square kilometers every day.
Rain helped improve conditions in parts of Alberta and Quebec over the weekend, but fire danger remains high across much of the country.
As of Monday morning, 420 fires were raging in nine provinces and two territories, and 207 of them are still considered out of control.
More than 58,000 square kilometers have burned so far this year in Canada, an area almost twice the size of Vancouver Island.
Environment Canada says air quality is good in most areas, although moderate-risk areas remain in Edmonton and Toronto, as well as parts of northeastern British Columbia.
