the fire set this Thursday morning, a hundred firefighters still on site

The operation lasted all night, and it is not over yet. Since this Wednesday afternoon, a hundred firefighters, inflated by reinforcements from Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, the Territory of Belfort and the Marne, have been fighting a large fire in Mortagne, west of Saint-Die-des-Vosges. After long hours of struggle, the fire is now fixed: 30 to 40 hectares of vegetation are destroyed.

Residents back home soon

In an emergency, a hundred residents had to leave their accommodation in the first hours of the fire. The Prefecture of the Vosges hopes that these residents will be able to return to their homes during the morning. In the meantime, the intervention continues to monitor the slightest recovery at least until noon, especially in a steep area near a peat bog.
