In the section “A day in France”, Saturday September 10, it is in particular question of the end of the fire in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, in the Alpes-Maritimes. The fire prompted several evacuations. At the same time, the hot weather is returning to the south and south-west of the country.

In Roquebrune-Cap-Martin (Alpes-Maritimes), the dry vegetation is traversed by the flames. Friday evening, September 9, 8 hectares were ravaged by a fire, fanned by a strong wind. Up to 150 firefighters were mobilized to evacuate an equestrian center and two homes. The fire is now fixed, thanks to the support of a water bomber helicopter. “We had to adapt with specific means in these narrow areas”reveals Jean-François Goletto, commander of the SDIS 06 relief operations.

In Tréguennec (Finistère), a 20-meter whale was found dead on a beach. The corpse oscillates between the waves, under the helpless gaze of visitors. This is the second large marine mammal stranded in eight days in the department. In Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes), the night was marked by a drama. Around 1:30 a.m., a 33-year-old woman riding a scooter was hit by a motorist. The man is still on the run.
