The firefighters of Bouches-du-Rhône are still mobilized this Tuesday at midday on the fire in the industrial zone of Vitrolles, after having fought all night against this fire which started in the MB Recyclage factory in late afternoon on Monday.
It’s a heap of metals that ignited in this factory, mobilizing at the height of the struggle near 75 firefighters and 40 machines, which made it possible to limit the spread of the fire to the company’s administrative buildings. A hundred people belonging to the Traveler community could be evacuated without difficulty.
This Tuesday morning, the firefighters indicated that thanks to the action of the rescue services, in particular the immediate implementation of the robotic units, supported by the technical means of the operator, the extinguishing operations made it possible to significantly reduce the intensity of the fire. The area affected by the fire now totals around one hundred square meters.
Concerning the possible consequences on the environment and public health, the firefighters announce the use of raw water (not drinkable) to allow the extinction of the fire in connection with the company of the Canal de Provence. From atmospheric and aquatic surveys are also in progress.
