The fire at La Teste-de-Buch in Gironde is “now extinct”, announces the prefecture of the department in a press release Thursday, August 25. 7,000 hectares of forest have been destroyed.

The “situation is improving” also in the Landiras sector, where “the efficiency of flooding operations” allowed “the extinction of the outbreaks in an area going from the east of the D219 and D115 departmental roads, to the town of Landiras”, also announces the prefecture. 300 firefighters remain mobilized.

The “specific restrictions on access to damaged forests” are lifted from this Friday, the press release adds. The municipalities of La Teste-de-Buch, Cabanac-et-Villagrains, Balizac, Guillos, Landiras, Le Tuzan, Origne, Saint-Symphorien are concerned. However, it is still forbidden to drive there or to practice “forest, sports and recreational activities” between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Access to the forests of the municipalities of Belin-Béliet, Saint-Magne, Hostens and Louchats remains prohibited.
