The forest fire that burned 320 hectares between Gigean and Frontignan on Sunday is now fixed, France Bleu Hérault learned on Monday. 19 August in the morning with the prefect of the department François-Xavier Lauch. The prefect assures that he “no one is hurt”The cause of the fire has not yet been established. “We are not ruling anything out at this stage”he says.

Sunday, “about fifteen people” were evacuated as a precaution. At the height of the fire, “600 firefighters were mobilized”, “450 stayed all night to process the small repairs” of fire, the prefect specifies. He explains that “The firefighters protected around fifty houses, which would probably have burned down if they had not been there.”

Another wildfire hit the department on Sunday, this time in Nissan, “further west”. In this sector, “the fire is not fixed yet” and burned 60 hectares, according to François-Xavier Lauch. The prefect welcomes the mobilization of the 200 firefighters came to reinforce Bouches-du-Rhône, supported in particular by 5 Canadair which carried out “150 “drops” and by 3 Civil security dash.
