The final sprint began Saturday for the municipal elections in Montreal, where the fight was still fierce between the different parties on this first day of voting of the weekend.

Candidates were still in seduction mode near certain polling stations in Montreal, where it was possible to vote until 8 p.m. Saturday.
“People are behind us, but we don’t take anything for granted, so we have a big weekend,” explained Émilie Thuillier, Projet Montréal candidate for mayor of Ahunstic-Cartierville. “The fight promises to be tight in several districts.”
The action was also felt in the campaign offices of the various parties.
“Hours in politics, we do not count them,” said Hadrien Parizeau, candidate of Ensemble Montreal in Ahunstic-Cartierville. “I knew when I got into politics that it would be tough as a sport, and I think a municipal campaign is even tougher.”
“There is something magical in the air, we really feel that there is a movement that is being created, so we are happy and we feel that we have favorable chances”, added Will Proper, Projet Montréal candidate for mayor of Montréal-Nord. “We especially work very hard.”
“At the moment, we are on the stretch, in the short sprint before finishing. Indeed, [samedi], the objective is to call people and remind them to vote, ”noted Christine Black, Ensemble Montréal candidate for mayor of Montréal-Nord.
The outgoing mayor Valérie Plante collected 40% of the voting intentions, against 35% for Mr. Coderre, and 13% for Balarama Holness, according to a Léger poll – “Le Journal” carried out Wednesday and last Thursday.
“The difference is the third candidate, Balarama Holness, who is very little known among French speakers, he will seek 3% of the vote, but among non-French speakers, he will seek 23%,” added Jean-Marc Léger, president of Léger.
Balarama Holness voted on Saturday morning, while Denis Coderre and Valérie Plante will cast their ballots on Sunday morning.
