A thunderous success. Carried by actors with disabilities, the film A little something extrareleased on May 1, attracted 4.5 million spectators in less than a month on display, becoming the biggest success of 2024 in theaters, ahead of Dune, part two. Over the past week, 1.1 million additional admissions were recorded by CBO Box-Office, according to figures published Wednesday May 29.

This touching comedy, which aims to laugh with disabled people and not at their expense, is ahead of Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster (4.1 million admissions) and the continuation of Po’s adventures in Kung Fu Panda 4 (2.3 million) at the top of the 2024 box office. A little something extra now on the heels Asterix and Obelix : the middle Empire by Guillaume Canet, the biggest French success in theaters since the health crisis, which attracted 4.6 million spectators in 2023, but with a much higher budget.

To reach the historical ranking of the most seen films at the cinema in France, A little something extra will still have to attract a few million additional spectators. The record in this area is held by Welcome to the Ch’tisreleased in 2008, which had totaled more than 20 million admissions in the space of six months of operation, according to box office figures shared by the Allociné site.
