The film My cat and me, the great adventure of Rroû, by Guillaume Maidatchevsky, will be released in theaters on Wednesday April 5. This family comedy, inspired by Maurice Genevoix’s story, traces the friendship between a kitten and a ten-year-old girl.

The film My cat and me, the great adventure of Rroû, in theaters on Wednesday April 5, traces the story of an apprenticeship, that of a little Parisian kitten. Adopted by Clémence, his life begins between the four walls of an apartment. The cat discovers the human world. His fate changes when he arrives on vacation in the countryside. In the Vosges, he discovers freedom. The domestic cat becomes a feline again. “A cat lives its life. […] He does what he wants and that was the real challenge of the film”says Guillaume Maidatchevsky, director of the film.

A film about emancipation

This is the first time that a cat has been filmed so closely for a fiction. It took all the patience of a team of six animal coaches to get there. The film is inspired by a novel by Maurice Genevoix. It speaks of emancipation, that of the cat and a ten-year-old child growing up together. The other character in the film is Madeleine, a solitary woman who will teach Clémence to better understand animals. One in three people in France owns at least one cat, but do we really own them? The answer is in the movie.
