On the plain of Grenellethere was a rock that was blown up with dynamite in order to set up a military parade ground for the school built next door in 1765. It then became the Champ de Mars, borrowing its name from the Roman God of War.
Now a place of festive celebrations, the Champ de Mars has hosted the biggest events. After becoming a hippodromewe installed the wall of peace, withdrawn since to find avenue de Breteuil. But it was Johnny Hallyday, in 2000, for his 40-year career, who organized a concert there that we still remember.
