The French Football Federation announced, Tuesday March 26, in a press release, that it had been the victim of a “computer attack which led to an exfiltration of personal data”. The Paris Prosecutor’s Office confirms the opening of an investigation, entrusted to the brigade fighting against cybercrime, to “introduction, access and maintenance in an automated data system”.

The data theft took place last Thursday, March 21. The data affected by the hack are those relating to the licenses of the two past seasons, namely 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 and in particular “last name, first name, gender, date and place of birth, nationality, legal representative for minors, postal and email address, telephone and license number”. According to the Paris Prosecutor’s Office, these are “potentially 1.5 million licensees’ data” who have been “fraudulently collected”.

The Federation specifies, however, that passwords, bank details, medical data and identity photographs are not affected. The FFF filed a complaint, “regrets this situation” and invites members affected by the theft to file a complaint if they wish. It also announces that it is strengthening the protection of its IT systems.
