The French Football Federation (FFF) announced in a press release on Thursday that it had decided to file “a defamation complaint” against the magazine So Foot. “because of the seriously defamatory imputations contained in its edition of September 8, 2022”. The press release specifies that this complaint was filed by the federation represented by its president, Noel Le Graet, “with the unanimous support of its executive committee”.
In the issue in question, the monthly had published an investigation into dysfunctions within the FFF, some of which were directly attributed to the boss of French football. “Among other things: sexual harassment (…) alcohol-related problems within the body (…), clan wars or even settling of scores”, listed So Foot in an explanatory article dated September 13. In particular, one could find three extracts from undated text messages which would have been addressed to current or past collaborators of the FFF, and which would have been sent by Noël Le Graët.
