The Federation of Education Unions has a new president

The Federation of Education Unions (FSE-CSQ), which represents more than 95,000 teachers in the province, has a new president. This is Richard Bergevin, who succeeds Josée Scalabrini, who remained at the head of this union for more than ten years.

Richard Bergevin is currently president of the Estrie Education Union (SEE-CSQ). He was a high school science teacher, but also an administrator at the Association of Science Teachers of Quebec and a lecturer at the University of Sherbrooke in science teaching.

He was elected by acclamation by the FSE member unions on Friday. From July, Mr. Bergevin will succeed Josée Scalabrini, a figure now known to the general public, who was president of this union for 11 years.

In a press release, Richard Bergevin committed to continuing “the work of promoting the profession” and to consulting the teacher members of this union.
