Rex Heuermann, who has been dubbed “the ogre of Gilgo Beach” by local media, is accused of killing three young women whose bodies were found at Gilgo Beach, Long Island.

Rex Heuermann’s former sister-in-law, Dr. Johanna Ellerup, did not hide her surprise in an interview with “NBC News”.

“I hesitate to desperately wish for my niece and nephew’s lives to return to the way they were, without a father accused of being a serial killer,” she said. My ego is having a hard time accepting the idea that I looked Rex in the eye and was unable to see murderous intent.”

Rex Heuermann has been married to his half-sister for 25 years.

Police say Heuermann’s family were “shocked” and “embarrassed” when he was arrested outside his Manhattan office and charged with the murders.

Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect, lived with his special-needs stepson and 26-year-old daughter in a quiet house in Massapequa Park.

The victims would all be sex workers whom the fifty-year-old would have solicited online, according to the police. The investigation into Rex Heuermann is national in the United States, since he would have links in Atlantic City, Las Vegas and South Carolina.
