In eastern Ukraine, seven coal factory workers were killed by a Russian strike on Tuesday May 3. “We picked up the bodies of our employees under the mortars”, explains a plant engineer. About 500 employees still work in this place bombarded by the Russians. “I live here with my daughter, it’s safer than in town”, says a woman. The factory has several shelters and is the last place with electricity and running water.
The workers continue to maintain the factory’s blast furnaces, which contain flammable and toxic products. When asked if a Russian bombardment worries him for these products, an employee replies: “Me, I don’t answer this question, I don’t think about it”. Tuesday, May 3, seven employees were hit by a strike in the factory parking lot. “It was calm and suddenly it was very brutal. They were going home”testifies the laundress who attended the scene.
