The explosion left at least one dead and five injured on the night of Monday December 6 to Tuesday December 7. Help is still there and is looking for two more people.
Formerly a three-story building, now a heap of ruins in which firefighters continue their search. During the night of Monday December 6 to Tuesday December 7, the explosion of a building in the port of Sanary-sur-Mer caused the death of a man and left at least six injured. It was at 3:50 am that the explosion was heard. “The building where we live has moved (…). When we went down, we saw everything destroyed”, tells a neighbor, whose building was evacuated.
Another local resident reports that she was awakened by the noise and smelled gas. About a hundred firefighters and marine firefighters are still on site. The first research made it possible to rescue a mother and her baby. “The dogs spotted the baby. We took over two hours to get him out.”, says a firefighter. Two people are still missing.
