It was necessary to bounce back after the painful defeat against the red lantern of the championship, Friday March 25. The Castelroussins were able to react and imposed themselves, this Friday 1st, on the lawn of Chambly. La Berri wins 2 goals to 0.
After this victory, a question arises: will the rise in Ligue 2 take place? This was the number one objective set by the Saudi Prince. In the name of mathematics, and six days before the end of the championship, everything is possible. The Berri has indeed 45 points. But to try to grab third place, the Castelroussins will have to win four, or even five games, out of six. They will already savor this twelfth victory : the last dated back to March 4 in Sedan.
A brace from defender Thibaut Vargas
The young striker Siriné Doucouré, aged 20, is lined up in the starting lineup alongside the top scorer castelroussin Thomas Robinet (15 goals). The Berri starts with the pedal to the metal: the best opportunity is signed Romain Basque. Her powerful and framed shot, she takes the direction of the skylight but the Camblysian goalkeeper deflects it for a corner with a superb save (12th).
The Castelroussins dominate, but they regularly come up against the defense of Chambly. The minutes go by and the score remains unchanged. But a fact of the game intervenes one minute before returning to the locker room: a poorly controlled tackle from Isaak Umbdenstock on Thibaut Vargas. The left defender of Chambly receives a direct red card. In the aftermath, the referee Monsieur Chapapria whistled for half-time.
La Berri begins this second period in numerical superiority. On an excellent job by Jonathan Mexico, left side in the penalty area, Thibaut Vargas emerges at the far post and scores with a flat foot (53rd). Sirine Doucouré is very close to doubling the bet, but the Chambly goalkeeper manages once to deflect the opportunity for a corner.
It is finally Thibaut Vargas who will definitively release his team. On the outside of the right foot, the former Montpellier player scored twice and allowed Berri to win 2-0. The Castelroussins gain a place in the standings and are now 6th, with 45 points. They are approaching Concarneau.
La Berri will receive the Red-Star on Friday April 8 at the Gaston-Petit stadium. In the first leg, Mathieu Chabert’s players had a serious match where they won 2-0 in Seine-Saint-Denis.
