Less than a year after the death of the actor, tributes and exhibitions devoted to his life and his career follow one another. In Azay-le-Rideau, in Indre-et-Loire, Jean-Paul Belmondo’s sister, Muriel, as well as her son Paul have officially given their agreement and provided their support for the creation of summer and festive events. 100 objects and some 300 posters are presented to the public until September 30 in the Halle de la commune exhibition hall.

The hat of Borsalinothe frock coat of Cartridge or the jacket of the Professional : so many objects from the most famous Belmondo shootings to discover in this exhibition Itinerary of a gifted artist, which was born thanks to the collective work between the municipality of Azay-le-Rideau and the family of the actor. “He was a very endearing person. And the family that I was able to meet, including his sister Muriel and his son Paul, I thank them very much for having accepted this exhibition, explains Sylvie Gaurier, the mayor of Azay-le-Rideau. We had wonderful encounters. They want the memory of Jean-Paul Belmondo to remain in the hearts of the French”.
Ultra-popular actor, Jean-Paul Belmondo was also a great seducer, in life and in his films. From Ursula Andress to Jean Seberg via Laura Antonelli, he proudly displayed himself on the arms of the most beautiful actresses of the time. And yet, it was not the fate that some attributed to him, starting with a theater teacher, not convinced by the banter and manners of the young actor.
“This professor had told Belmondo that with the head he had, he would never hug a woman, says Dominique Jauzengue, culture manager at Azay-le-Rideau. 15 years later, Jean-Paul Belmondo meets him in a great Parisian restaurant and was then in a relationship with Ursula Andress. He goes to see his former teacher and says to him: I present to you my companion. Despite your advice, I did what I could!”
After Louis de Funès last year, the town of Azay-le-Rideau is thus continuing a cycle of summer exhibitions devoted to French cinema and its most illustrious and famous representatives. A popular and festive event that could continue. And then, appointment is given to the unconditional on September 9th. A year after the national tribute paid to the actor, an outdoor screening ofItinerary of a spoiled childby Claude Lelouch, is organized as part of the exhibition.
