Faced with the shortage of teachers and after the massive recruitment of more than 4,000 new contract workers to fill the unfilled positions, an exceptional competition for the tenure of these contract workers will be organized in the spring of 2023, announced the Minister of Education, Pap Ndiaye, during his back-to-school press conference on August 26. Franceinfo reveals the conditions of access and the scope of this competition.

The competition will be organized in three academies, those of Versailles, Créteil and Guyana. These are the ones where there is the greatest shortage of teachers and which have therefore recruited the most contract workers this fall.

The competition is open only in the first degree, to become a full school teacher. It therefore does not concern colleges and high schools, even if the number of contract workers is nevertheless higher there than in primary schools. The ministry must specify in the next few hours how many incumbent positions will be to be filled.

Candidates must have had at least a year and a half of experience as a teacher in primary or secondary education. They must also have at least a Bac +2: BTS, DUT…

The nature of the tests and their exact date will be specified in a decree which must be published in the coming weeks. Other competitions will take place, a decree adopted on Wednesday allows them to be organized each year until 2026.
