Yannick Agnel’s case is gaining momentum. This Monday, December 13, the Mulhouse prosecutor gave a press conference where she revealed more details on the progress of the investigation for rape of a minor which targets Yannick Agnel.
This Monday, December 13, the Mulhouse prosecutor detailed in a press conference the explanations of the former double Olympic champion: “Yannick Agnel recognizes the materiality of the facts with which he is accused. He specifies that he did not have the feeling that there was coercion. If the facts constitute rape or sexual assault, it is because ‘there is a significant age difference between the 13 years of the young victim and the 24 years of Yannick Agnel at the time of the facts “.
The case dates back to 2016, Yannick Agnel trains at the Mulhouse Olympique Natation with the club boss, Lionel Horter. It is one of the coach’s daughters who filed a complaint last year against the swimmer. After 6 months of investigation, the 19-year-old athlete was indicted for rape of a minor on Saturday, December 11. Yannick Agnel is also placed under judicial supervision, which implies certain obligations for him as recalled by the prosecutor of Mulhouse: “He is forbidden to leave the inner suburbs of Paris, he forbids him – unless summoned by a court, to go to Mulhouse”. The ex-swimmer is also prohibited from coming into contact with the victim and members of his family.
