The event brings together the French scene at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique

The first edition of the Hyper Weekend Festival begins Friday evening and runs until Sunday at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique. On the program: many young artists and revelations in concert… And others more confirmed like Jean-Michel Jarre, Alex Beaupain, or Clara Luciani, for creations.

Making Radio France a setting for music and creation over three days, and offering it to both artists and the public, is the ambition of the Hyper Weekend Festival, which is held at the Maison de la Radio and Music from January 21 to 23. The event should normally have been held in January 2021, but that was before the Covid-19 decided otherwise.

And if the pandemic and the health constraints have not disappeared, in particular no standing audience, the event is taking place, with more than 30 concerts spread over three days. An event led by Didier Varrod, director of music for the antennas of Radio France. “We are not just another festival that will program the artists you have seen between September and December, he assures. We are in a festival where artists perform for the first time, or creations, projects that will be held for this edition and which may never be done again.”

Several musical styles are in the spotlight. First there is the song, with tributes to Gainsbourg or Dominique A by artists of the younger generation. But also rap, with the young Lala &ce at Studio 104 on Friday evening.

Electronic music will be revisited by Kiddy Smile at Studio 14 and his choristers or this exhibition around Hubert Blanc-Francard alias Boombass, half of the Cassius duo with Philippe Zdar, who died in 2019. Figure of the French touch, French-style electro , after notably producing MC Solaar albums. His studios, at his teenage home in the 16th arrondissement of Paris then in Pigalle, were reproduced at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique for the occasion. “There is a lot of emotion, recognize Hubert Blanc-Francard. “I would have liked my boyfriend to see this but I’m very proud in the name of our common memory of musical adventure. One of the highlights of the weekend will take place on Saturday evening: Clara Luciani will be in concert with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra in the auditorium.
