The European Union announced on Friday April 26 new humanitarian aid of 68 million euros to the Palestinians in Gaza. Funding is increased by the European Commission to take into account “the continued deterioration of the serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the constant increase in needs on the ground”, underlines a press release.

“This support brings the total EU humanitarian aid to €193 million for Palestinians in need inside Gaza and across the region in 2024”, specifies the European Union. The new aid provided will focus on food deliveries, clean water, sanitation and shelter. It will be delivered through local partners on the ground.

This announcement comes after that of the American army on Thursday which revealed that it had started the construction of a pier intended to increase deliveries to the territory. The latter was devastated by more than six months of Israeli bombings and ground operations. The United Nations said the Israeli operation had transformed Gaza into a “humanitarian hell”raising fears of imminent famine.
