The European Commission is proposing an exceptional reprieve for glyphosate to the 27 countries of the Union: an authorization of ten additional years. The Commission relies on the reassuring opinion of its health security agency. The 27 states will vote on their decision on October 13

In France, glyphosate is only authorized for farmers, according to them, herbicides are essential to remain competitive. “That we must reduce phytosanitary products yes, to say that we are going to ban them all, (…) it is anti-science and impossible“, judge Jean-Baptiste Moreau, former LREM deputy, rapporteur on glyphosate and agricultural engineer. The proposal must be examined on Friday September 22 by the 27 member states, who will have to validate their decision during a vote on October 13.
