The Franco-Austrian laboratory Valneva promised a vaccine against the classic Covid. It still has not received marketing authorization. The European Commission is therefore considering terminating his contract.

Its name: VLA2001, a new vaccine against Covid-19 developed by a Franco-Austrian company near Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). Europe had ordered 60 million Valneva doses, including nearly 9 million for France, even before it is put on the market. But Brussels now intends to terminate the contract. Valneva had until April 30 to obtain the green light from the European Medicines Agency, which was not possible.

The action fell by more than 20% on the Paris Stock Exchange. But Valneva is not throwing in the towel and hopes to be ready by the end of June. Today, Brussels does not close the door. Eight months ago, the United Kingdom canceled a contract for 100 million doses, citing a failure by Valneva to fulfill its obligations. Finally, the British health authority finally gave its agreement last month.
