Jean-Christophe Combe makes his my culpa. The Minister of Solidarity acknowledged, Friday, October 28, on Twitter to have “deceived” on the salary of childminders on Wednesday before the National Assembly, during ahe discussions on the second part of the finance bill. The member of the government had assured several times on Wednesday that childminders won “three Smic on average”. An incorrect amount, greatly overstated.
“A childminder earns on average one Smic per child looked after, in general she takes care of three”, wrongly asserted Jean-Christophe Combe. The deputies arrested him in stride. The Minister then repeatedly hammered “three Smic on average”, about the salary of early childhood professionals.
These comments provoked the indignation of elected officials, to such an extent that the vice-president of the National Assembly, Sébastien Chenu, asked them to let Jean-Christophe Combe finish. “Sorry indeed, a third of Smic times three per average so that’s one Smic”he corrected.
The group La France insoumise-Nupes underlined Friday on Twitter the disconnection of the minister with reality. “Amazing: the Minister of ‘Solidarity’ Jean-Christophe Combe affirms with confidence that childminders earn… nearly €4,000 per month! When will they come back down to earth?”, can we read in a tweet accompanying the sequence where the member of the government makes the error.

During the day, Jean-Christophe Combe admitted to having “deceived” and admit it “humbly” in a statement posted on Twitter. “Nursing assistants, like all early childhood professionals, are assured of my support, my recognition and my sincere respect.“, added the Minister.
