A welcome turnaround after a “failure” for some, which presents a “limit” for others. The MaPrimeRenov’ system to help with the energy renovation of homes is undergoing a new change on Wednesday May 15. The stakeholders concerned react to franceinfo and France Culture to the new conditions to benefit from them. Concretely, households can once again benefit from aid for a simple change of heating, windows – double or triple glazing – or insulation work only. The presentation of an energy performance diagnosis is no longer mandatory.

It is the return of “monogest”, note on franceinfo Jean-Christophe Repon, president of the Confederation of crafts and small construction companies (Capeb). The previous version of MaPrimeRenov’ favored large-scale, heavier and more efficient renovations, and resulted in a “failure” because she “does not correspond to market reality”. In the first quarter of 2024, the number of renovations fell by 43%, according to figures from the National Housing Agency (Anah) cited by France Inter and franceinfo.

The Dorémi company, which works with households and craftsmen to only carry out complete and efficient renovations of housing, however sees a “limit” to the new conditions. “Doing monogestures is less good when it comes to heating bills”, explains its president, Vincent Legrand, to France Culture. This even increases the risk of being scammed, according to him. “Any company, including companies with bad intentions, can approach and ultimately sell these solutions that do not perform”he warns.

On the other hand, this “reopening” from MaPrimeRenov’ to monogestures “weakens the performance dynamics a little” energy of buildings. He “hope” that this “monogestic parenthesis” will be closed “at the end of the year”. The changes effective Wednesday are planned to last until December 31, 2024.

Capeb, on the contrary, hopes that they will be maintained. “We want individuals to have visibility over several years, we also want our craftsmen to better understand the system”, affirms Christophe Repon. Each single gesture – changing a window or heating, for example – “this is the start of a renovation journey”, he maintains. La Capeb “try to convince Matignon, the Minister of Ecological Transition and that of Housing”.
