Several indicators suggest that the fifth wave of Covid-19 contamination could take place around March. Infections are down in some areas.

In pharmacies or in laboratories, certain signs indicate that Covid-19 contaminations are on the decline in Ile-de-France. Scientists want to see it as the beginning of a way out of the crisis. “The worst-case scenario is moving away, the decline has begun“, announces Professor Arnaud Fontanet, epidemiologist at the Institut Pasteur and member of the Scientific Council. He plans a “very low level” in March.

In a Parisian laboratory, there were 29% of positive tests last week. This rate is, Monday, January 17, around 20%. Covid-19 infections are down in Ile-de-France but also in Corsica. On the other hand, they continue to increase at the national level but at a much slower pace. A pharmacist carries out fewer tests each day but that does not mean that there are fewer patients according to him. In the hospital, the pressure remains significant but signs of calm appear as in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). Some operations should be rescheduled, after being canceled in recent weeks.
