“The ultimate goal is to bring justice closer to our compatriots, faster, more efficient and therefore to modernize it”declares to franceinfo Éric Dupond-Moretti, Minister of Justice, Friday, July 8, after the presentation of the report of the States General of Justice to Emmanuel Macron who advocates an increase in the means allocated to the judicial system.

Éric Dupond-Moretti announces a “very broad consultation from July 18” around this report led by Jean-Marc Sauvé, honorary vice-president of the Council of State. “I intend to receive here, at the Chancellery, without sparing my time, (…) the heads of the Court of Cassation, the heads of courts, heads of jurisdictions, the Superior Council of the Judiciary, the various trade union organizations, the legal professionals and also the internal security forces who are particularly concerned by the changes that could be made to criminal procedure”indicates the Keeper of the Seals.

Without commenting on the report’s recommendations on a case-by-case basis, the Minister of Justice welcomes “a real substantive work, a precious object, a basis for reflection for all justice professionals”. He assures us that we must “strengthen the means that Justice needs” and stresses that these Estates General are “transpartisan”and “intervened in total independence.”

Twelve personalities including magistrates, politicians, lawyers, wrote the report on the Estates General of Justice. “Very many French people participated and citizens left a million contributions on the internet”also points out Éric Dupond-Moretti.

The Minister also announces work to come in consultation with the Minister of National Education with the aim of “better inform our compatriots about what justice is. They know it too little”judges the Keeper of the Seals.
