One candidate chases another. The day after Joe Biden withdrew his candidacy for the American presidential election, the American press, like some Democratic voters, seems relieved. And is now giving a large space to Kamala Harris, who seems best placed to beat Donald Trump in the next election scheduled for November 2024.

The magazine Time has thus chosen to make its cover story about the woman who could well replace him. Against a red background, the vice-president enters the cover of the magazine, as she enters the race for the American presidency, while Joe Biden disappears from the image, leaving this cover… as he leaves the race for the White House.

This cover, which has been widely commented on on social networks, echoes that of June 28. The day after Joe Biden’s failed debate with Donald Trump on CNN, where the president appeared confused, mincing his words, getting tangled up, the weekly headlined “Panic.“, and featured Joe Biden very close to the exit.

For the American national press, the weight of words is front page news. It is “the end” for THE New York Post which is titled “THE END” in capitals with the image of Joe Biden entering the Oval Office.

THE New York Timeswhich had published an editorial calling on the Democratic candidate to abandon the presidential race, chose this title: “Biden is stepping down” while greeting in its columns a gesture “brave”.

The two Washington dailies remained more sober and factual: “Biden withdraws from the race,” thus title the Washington Times and the Washington Post.
