The Enchantada festival puts Occitan singing in the spotlight

The Occitan song will resound everywhere in the village of Saint Estèphe in Périgord Vert this Saturday, October 8th, the opportunity to discover the program of this day as well as the organizing association the Union occitana Camila Chabaneu “with our guest Patrick Ratineaud.

More than an association, an Occitan family

Created in 2008 to promote the Occitan language and culture in the Nontronnaisthe Union Occitane Camille Chabaneau has from the beginning operated in workshops in several localities: Nontron, Miallet, Mareuil, Champs-Romain… The numerous and diversified activities have some highlights during the year: language courses, Occitan Song Day in the spring “L’ENCHANTADA”, concerts, public lectures, guided tours (eg paintings by Pierre Rapeau), exhibitions, “PoésAAie” evenings (eg Reading of poems by Pablo Néruda)… Finally, the Union Occitane has a significant activity of publishing and distribution of Occitan works (eg toponymy of the cantons of Jumilhac, St-Pardoux la Rivière by the linguist Yves Lavalade, collections by Jaumeta Beauzetie “the revolt of Abjat”… theater play “Lo Temps de las Bateusas”…) This association is supported by the Dordogne-Périgord Cultural Agency, the Dordogne department and the PNR Périgord-Limousin.

The Enchantada sings in the Oc language

As part of its action for the recognition and development of local Occitan culture, the Union Occitane Camille Chabaneau has been organizing for 14 years the day of singing, “the Enchantada” which will take place this year in St-Estèphe, on Saturday October 8, a whole program!

  • 4:30 p.m. – Church: Concert vocal group Chant’Oc Greu (St Auvent – 87)
  • 5.30 p.m. – Village hall: ASCO vocal group concert (Sarlat)
  • 8:30 p.m. – Salle des fêtes: Concert by the AZALAiS group (Provence)
  • 10:00 p.m. – Salle des fêtes: Concert/Bal with the group ABAL (Dordogne)
