Aurore Bergé was very moved as she defended at the microphone a text related to domestic violence to make ineligible deputies convicted of such acts in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
A member on the verge of tears. Aurore Bergé, president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, defended with emotion, Tuesday, March 7, her bill which aims to make people convicted of violence ineligible. IThe oppositions accused her of exploiting the cause of women, and of making a publicity stunt after the return of the “rebellious” deputy Adrien Quatennens to the hemicycle after his conviction for having slapped his wife.
“I know what I mean”
“I do not exploit it, because, Mrs. Obono, I know what I am talking about”, she exclaimed, addressing the LFI deputy who cut her off several times during her response. Aurore Bergé’s proposal was ultimately rejected, even by her MoDem and Horizons allies.
Tuesday’s session was very tense. A few moments earlier, Eric Dupont-Moretti caused an outcry after sending two arms of honor to the leader of the LR deputies.
