Due to the particularly high traffic, the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal asks the population to avoid emergencies in the east of the city as much as possible.

The situation is particularly critical at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, where the emergency room occupancy rate was 172% early Wednesday evening, according to the Index Santé portal.
The CIUSSS suggests that people whose situation is not urgent consult their family doctor or pharmacist, a doctor at a walk-in clinic or contact the Info-Santé line at 8-1-1.
“Even during a pandemic, it is possible to consult a health or social services professional the same day or the next day without going to one of our emergency rooms,” added the CIUSSS.
Critical situation across the province
On Wednesday, the traffic was very high in many emergencies in Quebec. In Montreal, the Royal Victoria Hospital, the LaSalle Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital achieved an occupancy rate of 176%, 180% and 165% respectively.
The situation was also worrying in Montérégie, where the Hôtel-Dieu de Sorel was 224% occupied. In the Capitale-Nationale region, the Saint-François-d’Assise Hospital reached 144%, while in Chaudière-Appalaches, the Thetford Mines Hospital was at 170%.
In Lanaudière, the Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital was at 161%, against 170% at the Lanaudière Regional Hospital Center. On the North Shore, the situation was particularly worrying with 200% occupancy at Le Royer Hospital and 210% at the Sept-Îles Hospital and Accommodation Centre.
