The emergency room in Les Escoumins in Haute-Côte-Nord, which was to be completely closed from Thursday to Sunday, will finally be open day and evening all week. However, it will not accept any patients at night.
From Wednesday to Sunday inclusive, it will therefore be impossible for citizens of Les Escoumins and the surrounding area to go to this emergency room from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., indicates the Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) of the Côte-Nord, on its website.
The Forestville emergency room, however, will remain closed in the evening this Wednesday and Thursday. It will not receive any patients day, evening or night from Friday to Sunday inclusive.
Following the service disruptions of recent weeks, these new cuts are due to the “shortage of nursing and medical staff,” the CISSS de la Côte-Nord specified last Monday.
Elsewhere in the region, Le Royer Hospital in Baie-Comeau and the Sept-Îles hospital are operating at a reduced capacity. Their emergency rooms and operating rooms are operating at limited capacity, while the beds in their overflow unit are closed.
“The summer period brings slowdowns every year. [L’accès] limited to independent labor leads to certain reductions in services,” explained the CISSS.
Further details will follow.
