the emergencies of the CHU of Bordeaux accessible only via the SAMU

From Wednesday evening the adult emergencies of the Bordeaux University Hospital should remain closed at night to the public. Hospital management is still working on its new protocol, but this is the recommendation that emerged from a meeting held on Monday evening.

Only patients referred by 15, in this case the SAMU, will be admitted. This regulation measure in “degraded” mode is explained by the lack of nursing staff. The closure does not concern pediatric emergencies or the emergencies of Saint-André hospital in downtown Bordeaux.

For months, the CHU unions and the Urgence Santé collective have been pointing to a serious staffing problem: stretcher bearers, nurses, doctors, caregivers, many of them have returned their blouses.

Alain Essebar, secretary general of the CGT – Pellegrin knew that the situation was tense but he did not expect such a decision from the hospital: “We are number 1 in France, the biggest site in New Aquitaine and we are going to ask people to call before coming? This is unacceptable”.
