The electoral promise | The duty

Minister Girard announces the upcoming payment of $400 and $600 to taxpayers who declared, in 2021, income between $50,000 and $100,000 in the first case and less than $50,000 in the second case. The Legault government is proudly keeping its election promise.

Cheer ! Minister Girard emphasizes that this one-time assistance is necessary to help cover living expenses following the inflation of recent months.

Sad promise to aim, unnecessarily, at taxpayers earning up to $100,000 annually (potentially up to $200,000 per household, not easy then to pay for groceries), when it would have been much better, but paying less electorally, to help more the less fortunate in our society, in particular those earning the minimum provided for by law.

As for the left-behinds, the recent retirees who last year declared incomes greater than $100,000 and who will earn, in 2022, much less than the $50,000 mentioned above, which they are delighted to not not contribute to raising general inflation.

It would have been far too complicated to ensure that they were entitled to their fair share.
