Until Thursday, June 16, the children of the educational city of Amiens Nord participate in the challenge ten days without screen. The opportunity for them to discover new sports or manual activities.

In a social center in Amiens (Somme), manual activities are back. For ten days, a challenge was launched to more than 4,000 children: they should not spend time in front of screens. Theatre, scientific experiments… Young people learn to have fun without smartphones or tablets. “It’s actually quite nice, because it’s things that we don’t necessarily do at home”, notes a father. During the Covid-19 pandemic, more than one in two children increased their time spent in front of screens.

All promise to try to stay away from screens for ten days. With this challenge, socio-educational structures also want to remind families of their usefulness. “The idea with this program (…) is to discover everything that is done in the Amiens Nord sector, to be able to discover new structures, new sports, cultural, educational, social activities“, explains Arnaud Vitté, referent of the citizen course of the educational city of Amiens Nord.
