The Eagles reportedly fired their offensive coordinator

According to what the Associated Press learned on Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles have fired their offensive coordinator Brian Johnson.

The American news agency learned the news from a source who requested anonymity, as the team has not yet confirmed the news.

Johnson is the most recent coach of Nick Sirianni’s group to suffer, after defensive coordinator Sean Desai, while the latter is reshaping his staff after the collapse that the Eagles experienced at the end of the season. The Eagles went from 10-1 to 11-6 and were blown out 32-9 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round.

Johnson joined the Eagles in 2021, first as quarterbacks coach. He was promoted when Shane Steichen left to accept the head coaching job in Indianapolis. He interviewed for vacant head coaching positions at Atlanta and Tennessee earlier this month.

Under Johnson, Jalen Hurts was a finalist for Associated Press MVP and Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 as the Eagles reached the Super Bowl. But Hurts regressed this season, while Johnson called the plays.

He threw a career-high 15 interceptions and his efficiency rating increased from 101.5 to 89.1.
